FAQ’s

1. Do I need a doctors referral?

No. You do not need a doctors referral to access physiotherapy, massage therapy or occupational therapy in the province of Alberta. If your therapist has any concerns or thinks you should consult with your doctor or other medical professional they will explain why and ensure that you are referred appropriately. *You may need a referral if you are making a claim on an Employee Benefit Plan. Please check with your insurer to see if they require a doctors referral to provide reimbursement for health benefits.

2. How long does it take to get an appointment?

That depends on your situation. Our massage therapists book up quickly, and it can take a few days or a week to get in to see them. Physiotherapy appointment scan sometimes be made the same day, or within 1-2 days. If you want to access the Alberta Health Services (AHS) funding, there can be a longer wait, sometimes up to 4 weeks.

3. Can you bill my insurance company directly?

For physiotherapy, yes we can, if you have Blue Cross or ASEBP (School Board) insurance. If you carry insurance through any other company, you must pay up front and submit your bills for reimbursement. We cannot bill Blue Cross or ASEBP directly for massage therapy or occupational therapy.

4. Other Employee Benefit Plans

Many employee benefit plans offer coverage for physiotherapy and massage therapy. Check your plan to determine your benefits and limits, as each plan is different. Your dependants under the age of 23 may also be covered under your plan.

5. Can you treat vertigo, or arthritis, or a disc injury or [insert any other condition here]...

You can call our office to find out. Sometimes the receptionist will be able to answer your questions directly. Sometimes she will need to ask one of the therapists to call you back. And sometimes, we can’t really decide until we see your for an assessment.

6. Workers Compensation Board

Due to limitations placed upon physiotherapists by the Workers CompensationBoard of Alberta, we have chosen to no longer offer treatment for work-related injuries that are WCB funded as of March, 2007. You may still access treatment through another physiotherapy clinic. To find a list of WCB treatment facilities, please contact the WCB directly.
